For every person who starts their Russian course at Liden & Denz these phrases could be useful. Even if you start learning the language it will improve the way you get on in the classroom a lot. Many people have problems to the highest level to pronounce words right in Russian. It’s not that easy in this language so it is very important to ask often and nearly at every unknown word how to pronounce it.

It’s not a shame to ask to repeat something and to ask the teacher anything. It just shows the interest in the subject so you should hold on to this phrase so you can ask all the time if you didn’t get something.
Есть ли более легкое слово для этого?
Some of the long and difficult words in Russian are hard to come by, but it will help you to recall them and learn them. For starters it is better to ask for an easier alternative of the word but never forget the long one so you can improve your vocabulary on a steady base.
Можно услышать это в предложении?

В каком это параграфе?
For the start it is very hard to know all 6 cases in Russian and their singular and plural forms. So it is very convenient to have an native as the teacher so you can always ask them in which case the word is and how you can as ask for it.
Не могли бы вы объяснить это еще раз?
Word by word translated it means “Can you explain that again?”. It should stand on its own that if you need some repeat that this is the best phrase to use. In the institute you normally have a good time per topic.

If you’re overworked on a topic or had a rough night it is okay to ask the teacher if you could repeat the topic a day later because you didn’t get it or were just already somewhere else with your head.
I hope these phrases will help you with your school life and also help you to enjoy the experience of learning a language. Try to get as much out of the time you stay in Saint Petersburg and develop a felling for the language. P.S.: If you stay out too long and didn’t have any time to do the homework just tell the teacher “я забыл свою домашнюю работу!”
