My name is Anna, очень приятно. I came from Padua, Italy, and landed here a few days ago. Whenever I introduce myself saying I’m from Padua I need to add that I live not far from Venice because a lot of people are not familiar with my city (you should come and visit it by the way!). As a matter of fact, I like to say that I came from Venice to the Venice of the North, the magical city of Saint Petersburg.
I had already been in Saint Petersburg before, but just for two days. This time I’m staying here for three months and I’ll be studying Russian at Liden & Denz in the morning and working as a Social Media Content Assistant intern in the afternoon. I thought this program would be a great way to practice the language while diving into a new job at the same time.
After spending three years studying Russian at the University for Translators and Interpreters I decided to take some time and do what I dreamed of for a lifetime: leaving my comfort zone and travel. The first stop of my journey had to be Mother Russia, of course!
Just a piece of advice to all those people like me that dream to travel the whole world one day: don’t be afraid, pack your stuff and start today; you don’t need to be rich, famous or particularly brave to do it. Don’t let linguistic barriers stop you from achieving your goal. You will make yourself proud!
And now, three fun facts about me:
1) I have a passion for two different things: fashion and animals. Somebody once told me these two passion of mine don’t get along with each other because when you’re wearing something fashionable you don’t really want to let animals leave their hair on your clothes. Know what? I don’t mind, I am exactly the kind of girl who could wear heels and a fancy dress while holding a few puppies.
2) As an Italian, I love pasta, pizza, and all those tasty, amazing, high-carb foods. But I can’t cook, I totally can’t. On my first night here I simply ate two eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes because there isn’t anything else I can cook.
3) One day, while I was on the bus on my way home from school, I spent all of my time binge-watching Youtube videos about bungee jumping and I consumed my whole internet data pack in one hour. I still don’t know the reason why I did that.
See you very soon, до скорого!
