Philip has studied and worked at Liden & Denz for the last two months as an intern here in Saint Petersburg. So what is his take on the stay? What did he like best?
My name is Philip, I’m 25 years old and I originally come from Vienna. Now I’m living near my university in Burgenland. I study international business relations as a major and also chose Russian as an secondary language. The last two years I try to master my Russian but it is a long way to go.
In my softmore year in university we had to choose between a language from east Europe as an secondary language. I thought that the most influential is Russian so I chose it and I also think economically it is one language that is very important.
In my two months here I really enjoyed the language as get to know how hard it is to master. On the one hand this was one of the best language experiences I had and I think I learn here more about the language than I did in two years before. On the other hand I saw it is a hard way to get fluent and now I know how much time I will have to invest into this language to get fluent. As an language experience I would recommend this school to everyone.
As I have lived here in the city of Saint Petersburg for the last. Two moths you get used to it so I am really happy that I had the opportunity to visit a other city too. I really enjoyed to old and historical city center of Wyborg. For a short getaway from the city it is the perfect spot.
Liden & Denz is a melting pot of nationalities. I enjoyed that I get to know so many people who have the same goal to enjoy the city and learn Russian. It was a blast to have a group of people from so many different countries and all getting together to have a great time in a great city.
For everyone who loves steak or some good meat it is a must to visit “Meatarea Chuck”. It is the spot to be but you should reservations a table. For a small snack just near the institute there is SB Burger what has one of the best burgers in the city.
For many people it is important in their life to make some sport. I love doing sport too so Saint Petersburg has a big variety of types of sports you can try here. I frequently visited a gym not far from the institute but Saint Petersburg is packed with gym so you will find one near you too.
As for the future, I love this city and I’m keen on visiting it again. I hope I can’t come to Saint Petersburg some time during summer, not just to see the city in a different light but also to improve my Russian further and see some familiar faces again.
